La Plata County has recorded its first confirmed case of West Nile virus this year, according to the San Juan Basin Health Department. The 52-year-old man who tested positive is a county resident who lives south of U.S. Highway 160 between Durango and Bayfield. The state as a whole has seen 146 confirmed cases this year, 11 of them in recent days.
